Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Rawalpindi Bench on Monday stayed the execution of five takfiri terrorists of the ASWJ (LeJ/TTP) who were condemned to death by a military court for attack on army camp in Gujrat in 2012.

“Chief of Army Staff today signed death warrants of 6 hardcore terrorists (pending execution) convicted by Field General Court Martial in accordance with law,” the Director General, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj Gen Asim Bajwa, said in a late-night twitter posting.
Convicts in cases relating to the GHQ attack, Jhanda Chichi, Pervez Musharraf attack and attack on a military camp near River Chenab (Gujrat) received death sentences by the Field General Court Martial under the Army Act.
The 5 terrorists – Ahsan Azeem, Asif Idrees, Umar Nadeem, Kamran Aslam, and Amir Yousuf – had been handed down death penalty by a military court for involvement in attack on an army camp in Gurjat in which at least seven security personnel were killed.
Justice Arshad Mahmood Tabassum stayed the execution of the convicts who are currently held in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail. It is strange that relatives of the takfiri terrorists have taken notice of the conviction after execution of other takfiris. Lahore High Court should have asked the relatives to approach the court when their relatives were tried in the military court. Now, they have raised the issue of jurisdiction. Army has clearly mentioned it was under their jurisdiction. Then, why hanging of the takfiri terrorists is being delayed.
Since Friday, 19th December, six terror convicts have been executed in Faisalabad. Two other convicts were hanged on Friday in Pervez Mushrraf attack case. On Sunday, authorities executed four more takfiri militants as the government has ended a six-year moratorium on capital punishment for terror-related cases following takfiri Taliban terrorist attack on Peshawar school that killed 149 people including 132 children.
